Instructions for ID photos [fr]

The following recommendations will help you to provide proper photos, thereby avoiding any delay in the processing of your file. Only photos taken by professional photographers are accepted.

Format :

The photos must be in colour and 3.5 X 4.5 cm format (1.4" X 1.9")

A photo must be such that it is only visible from the top of the shoulders (or the base of the neck).

The size of the face must be between 32 mm and 36 mm and must occupy 70% to 80% of the picture.

The face must be properly centered on the photo.

The picture must be dated less than three months and there must be a perfect resemblance with the applicant on the day of filing the application and of transmission of the visa.

It is recommended not to pre-cut a photo that has not been glued to the form.

Quality of photos and bearing :

Lighting and contrast must bring out the natural colour of the skin. There must be no flash reflections on any part or on the totality of the face and there must be no red eyes.

Facial expression must be neutral, with mouth closed and without hair in front of the eyes.

The face must appear strictly from the front. Both sides of the face must be seen clearly.

Stylized poses (such as looking over the shoulder, bending head, etc.) are forbidden.

The head must be bare, save in exceptional cases (such as religious reasons); if the photo is not “with head bare,” it must show the entire face, from the base of the chin to the top of the forehead, and the edges of the face must be clearly shown.

If you wear glasses, you are not required to wear them on the photos. However, if you do wear them, they must let your eyes appear clearly; there must be no dark lenses, no flash reflection on the lenses, the frame must not hide part of your eyes; light frames are preferred.
